It feels like everyday has become sports day. For the last five years one trend has never left the fashion field, sports luxe. From team numbers to designer trainers to technical fabrics, sportswear has taken over the runway season after season.
With brands like Victoria Beckham being influenced by baseball uniforms for AW12, Chanel presenting sneakers at its SS14 Couture show and the team captain of the trend Riccardo Tisci showcasing the Givenchy AW14 collection on a basketball court, we seems to now be wearing more active wear on a day to day basis than we do at the gym.
Since championing the sweatshirt from 2011, Tisci has helped Givenchy to recruit a team of sweatshirt fanatics that come back collection after collection.
One of my favourites has to be the gridiron printed sweatshirt from Givenchy’s AW13 collection with its bold print and oversize shape. And with its price tag of £900, it truly is the definition of ‘sports luxe’.
