Everybody loves a fashion scandal, whether it’s Hedi Slimane removing Yves from the Saint Laurent brand, Kate Moss being filmed taking drugs or even Kim Kardashian’s Vogue cover, everyone in the industry seems to have their opinion on the situation. Maybe it’s because we feel that we own these people, that they are our public property. But just because we buy a Chanel 2.55 bag, do we have the right to tell Karl Lagerfeld that Kristen Stewart shouldn’t be the brand’s ambassador?
But no one has been causing a commotion this year like Terry Richardson. Beginning after an article asked ‘Is Terry Richardson an Artist or a Predator?’, everyone seems to have something to say about the American photographer. Thanks to his graphic and humorous signature style, Terry has established a loyal clientele resulting in a wide range of campaigns, editorials and music videos with Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Yves Saint Laurent, Beyonce and Miley Cyrus.
And it seems he still has friends in high places after securing the AW14 Valentino footwear campaign regardless of whether the allegations are true or not. Debuting the new season shoot, the Italian house enlists the controversial photographer himself to be a hand model with its luxe sneaker range. But is the controversial photographer’s touch damaging or productive for Valentino? Either way, my opinion and shopping list hasn’t changed, I’ll still be getting those runway trainers…
Well we’re talking about it right now and there’s no such thing as bad publicity right?
