Something Old, Something New

imageI like to think that I don’t buy into trends, that I buy what I want to buy because it suits me and not the season. I try to only purchase things that I see as an investment that will last a lifetime… But then Riccardo Tisco came along and presented SS13 Givenchy with the incredible paisley and plane print which rocked my beliefs to the core.

photo 1I was instantly obsessed and purchased my first trend piece, a leather and woven print pouch that is so instantly recognisable to the season that it possibly couldn’t survive beyond that Spring/Summer. It was ultimately disposable designer fashion.

photo 3qBut three seasons on, maybe I was wrong. What I thought of as a disposable buy, has lasted the test of time so far and still works as a conversation starter but without stealing the limelight. But maybe this has to do with the design rather than the print itself, while sweatshirts and tees adorning the same print have all been cast out to the depths of ebay, my pouch still has pride of place in my closet right next to any new purchase… In this case, some brand new Nikes.
