As the first American designer to partner with Swedish fast fashion retailer H&M in its continued collaboration series, there is a lot of interest in the movements of Alexander Wang since his appointment at Balenciaga. With the one time collection launching in 250 H&M stores worldwide and online comprising of apparel and accessories for men and women, this is sure to be H&M’s most successful collaboration since Versace.
But while the 30 year old designer produces collections for his own name label as well as defusion line T by Alexander Wang and luxury fashion house Balenciaga, how can Alexander Wang for H&M deliver product that Wang doesn’t already produce? Is there anything he hasn’t already sewn his label into?
Announced in April at the Coachella festival this year on Instagram by Wang himself, rumours and teasers have circulated about what Alexander Wang for H&M would look like and finally now we know thanks to the new issue of British GQ. Previewing Wang‘s menswear designs from the eagerly anticipated collaboration, it’s no surprise to see the designer has stuck to his signature sports luxe aesthetic. And while on paper they might not be new categories for him, they do look like new designs but I guess we will just have to wait till the 6th of November to see.
