Thanks to both industries feeding off consumers constant desire for the must have latest version of a product, technology and fashion have always gone hand in hand. From man made fabrics like spandex to live streaming of runway shows, technology has opened up what had previously been an exclusive world and made it accessible to everyone. After all, what would fashion week be without social media, streetstyle photographers and instant online shopping?
While companies constantly striving to out do each other, the need for man to actually be involved in craftsmanship has declined leaving it to a world dominated by machines. And while I’m sad to see centuries of traditional skills and techniques lost to machinery, I can’t help but embrace the future, the Prada robot future. Who wouldn’t feel safe knowing the world is in the hands of machines if they were just like the adorable Prada Trick robots? I guess tricks aren’t just for kids.
