Thanks to designers like Hedi Slimane, the trouser that was once synonymous with rockstars, biker gangs and people of a certain fetish has become this season’s winter essential. And while the trousers might have gone mainstream due to a certain allure of danger they offer, they are certainly not for everyone… Myself included. After recently purchasing a pair of Mr Slimane’s leather biker jeans that were on the verge of selling out for the second season in a row, I quickly learnt that neither my legs or Mr Slimane’s trousers were cut out for each other.
But while this style aren’t designed by Mr Slimane, they are from another French brand, April77… And they fit. Founded in 2002, April77 delivers collections inspired by the artistic and cultural references of the youth culture with every piece easily becoming wardrobe staples. With their second skin like cut, these are actually wearable thanks to their denim back that gives them stretch so that one can actually walk as well as sit. Which pretty much makes them the skin I want to live in.
