Founded in 1856, Burberry Prorsum has become a quintessential English brand thanks to its longstanding connections to London, style and progression. Most famous for its trench coat which was designed by founder Thomas Burberry after the War Office commissioned him
to adapt its officer’s coat to suit the conditions of contemporary warfare. Lasting well after the war, the trench coat has stood the test of time and become a modern day staple and Burberry’s biggest seller.
But while I’m not really a trench coat kind of guy, I do enjoy the fruits that Burberry Prorsum and Creative Director/CEO Christopher Bailey has to offer. Since joining the house in 2001 and injecting it with a sense of luxury to entice high-spending customers from around the world to ultimately turn into one of the largest fashion houses in the world.
So desirable is the brand that fashion hungry folk will fork out £850 for a sweater just like this lambs wool knit. With its striking colour combination and distinctive lines running down the front, it truly does make for a statement piece… And when you pay as much as you do for Burberry, you want to make a statement.
