After an already fruitful 12 months with his own label, collections for Balenciaga and the very hyped up collaboration with H&M, Alexander Wang debuts a denim collection when other designers are winding down for the year. But not one to do a subtle campaign to launch the line, the American designer enlisted an oiled up naked Anna Ewers and shot the model from the waist down in a pair of the new jeans pulled halfway down her thighs, while her hand is positioned to suggest masturbation… As much as I love Wang, I’ve never personally been that excited about a pair of jeans.
And although he needs his campaigns to be outrageous when the clothing is so subtle and minimal, can sex actually be sexy when it is so contrived like this? Well perhaps it never was meant to be with the designer himself decalring “Once you see it, you can’t stop thinking about it.” So if his mission was to not get Wang out of your head, then that is exactly what he has achieved…
