Long described as the City of Love, Paris is a cross section of true beauty, decadence, romance but most of all tragedy. But perhaps with all this action coming from every angle, many people forget the food. From delicate patisseries and cakes to heavy cheeses and countless glasses of wine, Paris itself can be thought of as fashion’s worst enemy – enticing you in with its beauty all the while force-feeding you croissants.
Walking around the streets of Paris either by day or night are filled with wonder and amusement for the eye from Chanel on Rue Cambon to Sadaharu Aoki’s patisserie. So while I was whisked away for my birthday by my love and treated to many birthday cakes, I couldn’t help but share the love and take a few of my own along for the adventure.
Like my Paul Smith wooden duster coat. Originally purchased for its slick and chic versatility, it has come far beyond that to be considered my coat of many calories thanks to its ability to hide a multitude of French sins that one can devour in a 72hr period. And what more could one ask for more (other than a personal trainer) but a garment that lets you eat whatever you want and cheat the eye.
