If there is one garment that transcends age, race and gender it has to be pyjamas. Once only reserved for the eyes of your significant other, the humble loose fitting garment worn for sleeping or lounging about in has lost a little of its relevance and sex appeal but I think it’s time to help bring pyjamas back into the fashion arena… Starting with London Collection: Mens.
Entering into its seventh season, LC:M has come on leaps and bounds with the SS16 schedule jam-packed with over 70 designers including J.W.Anderson, Alexander McQueen and Tom Ford showcasing the best of Britain alongside brands from Sweden, America and Japan. So with such a hectic schedule of back to back shows, parties, drinks and dinners, it hardly seems feasible for people to be ready to parade around in their finest day after day especially at 9 in the morning… At least for me that is.
As someone who is quite calculated with their outfits so that they carry me from day to night, the necessity of finding a solution to dressing dapper at 9am when you’re currently suffering from the symptoms of a champagne hangover is of the upmost importance. And I think I’ve found it thanks to Derek Rose who have been making the very best nightwear, loungewear and underwear since 1926 in colours, fabrics and prints to rival the best ready to wear brands out there.
And it’s easy to see why, after spotting their Regimental RAF pyjamas with its bold stripes, neatly placed pockets and subtle cut, I decided it was time to stop dreaming about wearing a pyjama top as daywear and to just do it. And what better place to test out my lazy dressing solution than LC:M? I hear chic looking sleepwalkers are in this season.

Thanks, I just need to find an outfit now for the trousers!
That’s the hard part. I think you have to make them distinctly not look like PJ bottoms – no easy task…
