In fashion everything is about speed. How fast can something be made, how swiftly can that shoot be turned around, how quickly can it be delivered… It takes a lot to keep up with it when it is not only your job but also your hobby. But fashion doesn’t have a switch off button, you just have to roll with it. So sometimes you need to get off and out of the revolving closet and ground yourself to something.My thing is nature.
Not in a hippy no hygiene or a cargo shorts and hiking boots mountaineer kind of way, but in a more luxurious landscape and all the delights that managed nature has to offer (think Versailles). So any time that I can get out of London usually results in some kind of manicured lawn and weathered stone setting. Like my recent pilgrimage to Hever Castle with its historic buildings (it was once the home of Anne Boleyn), lakeside Italian architecture and extensive flower gardens that just seemed to sprawl on forever. Even though it doesn’t have the grandeur or luxury of Versailles, it’s nice to go back in time and to nature that’s fit for a Queen.
