They say what goes around comes around. And nothing is more true in the fashion world than that one little sentence. Just when you think something is out, it suddenly recycles itself and reappears as a new trend once again just years later. Which is just what has happened to the 70s. Arguably more popular now than it ever was five decades ago, the 70s has gained momentum over the last few seasons to evolve into one of the biggest trends for SS16 thanks to brands like Prada, Lanvin and most famously the revival of Gucci under Alessandro Michele.
So while I’m not on board with every part of the 70s trend (something tells me I can’t really pull off fringing), I am totally obsessed with two of them – tan and suede. So you can imagine my state of bliss at discovering them combined into one dressing gown style of coat that summons up the perfect look of the era but in a modern way that avoids it looking like a costume. Now if only the real 1970s could have looked this good then maybe we might have never left.
