I have a confession to make. I have a shopping problem. Whether I’m actually buying or just browsing (which never actually happens), I can spend countless hours trying to discover the ultimate lust worthy garment, that one piece to rule them all. But as I have gotten older either the hours in the day have quickened or I’ve just become lazy. No longer do I have the patience to scour rails trying on pieces or trawling online trying to guess how fabrics feel and fit, I just want to find that perfect piece straight away. But this seesm to be mission impossible with how saturated the market place is right now. With pre, main and continuity collections clogging up the system, it is hard to see the sublime through all the sweatshirts. So with this in mind, I took a stance and decided to make what I couldn’t find myself. I make no secret of my love of shearling, its warmth, the way it moves and how it catches the light help to make it perhaps the most practical form of fur. So here is my must have for this season, a shearling panelled coat with a boiled wool back and sleeves. I guess it turns out I’m actually not that lazy when it comes to making something…
