After flicking through my wardrobe this week for a overcast Sunday brunch, I was delightfully reconnected with a lost to the times leather jacket that I had acquired back in my Aussie youth from General Pants. While I’m amazed I’ve held on to an item for almost 10 years, it got my thinking about the current fashion climate and what we consider vintage clothing. When fashion is as speed up as it is right now, what can actually be described as vintage when an article of clothing is old before the season is even up. So where does old season end and vintage start? While I’m sure it’s debatable, I like to think vintage applies to a time in history like shoulder pads, mini skirts or even a hark back to my grungy youth days… just minus the grunge.
