When I first saw a piece from the SS16 AMI Paris collection featuring a giant textured lemon, I had to purchase it because it stood out from the crowd. Fast forward 4 weeks later and it felt common not because I had gotten used to it, no because Beyonce came out with her 6th album Lemonade. Thanks to the sea of fruit emojis and selfies of people sipping the beverage that followed, my top lost all of its novelty factor and soured. But always the optimist, I had to give the fruit another go but this time while holidaying in Broome, Australia. Perfect for a 34 degree day, the 50’s cut pyjama style shirt kept me cool but more importantly against the harsh dry landscape the fruit stood out once again. So now that the hype from Lemonade has died down, maybe I can wear it in London without people thinking I’m some kind of Beyonce Stan but either way don’t worry about it, I might be a lemon but I ain’t bitter…
