Uncomfortable Fashion Pt 2

Sometimes clothes can fit you like a glove. You hardly notice them as they don’t restrain or restrict you… And sometimes there is just uncomfortable fashion. There are very few times I’ve been offended by fashion in the last few years, apart from that horrifically confusing Nicole Kidman shoot for Interview Magazine, the only other thing that comes to mind is that cringe worthy Jeremy Scott documentary. That was until I saw a shoot from the latest issue of August Man Malaysia. Titled Never Forget and Never Again, the shoot features top male models Oran Katan, Tomas Skoloudik, Jorrit Berndsen, Cristi Isofii, and Liuk Bass dressed in military inspired pieces from brands like Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton. But while the styling and casting is bang on and frankly sublime, it’s the decision on the production that the publication has decided to take by placing these glamorous and stylish products in what looks like cemeteries, prison camps, and war monuments… Maybe it’s just me but I just can’t help but have a bad taste in my mouth by the glamorisation of war. This might just be the most uncomfortable fashion I’ve ever felt.
