The older I get, the more I start to contemplate legacies and what they mean. What we leave behind for those after us seems to be a focal point whether it’s a physical or spiritual, our departing mark we leave on the world seems to be all that we can be remembered by. Just look at 2016 with the mass passing of celebrities, each was remembered and discussed about for at least one of their contributions to the zeitgeist. Sadly sometimes it isn’t their most valuable contribution to society that is mentioned but the most memorable and often the most scandalous. But that’s the thing about legacies, people start to think that they are public property, something for us all to offer a comment on. But I like to think legacies are what we ourselves create and not what others do after we are gone. So this is me creating mine, which coincidentally this week involves Swedish fashion house Our Legacy, I’m choosing to make 2017 the year of control, you might not be able to control when you leave this world but you can control what you leave in this world. So what will your legacy be?
Shirt Our Legacy @ Harvey Nichols, trousers Balenciaga, coat Paul Smith, bag Loewe, trainers Adidas.
Apart from the fact that I love the fact that you’re working with my native brand Our Legacy which of course makes me proud, your post about what kind of legacy we leave behind us really made me think. Less than 30 minutes ago I got a phone call I did not want to get of a family member passing away. It didn’t come as a shock as she has been hospitalized for quite some time, but still it makes me think about her legacy. She was a grand old dame and left the world as one. I’m quite spiritual and know she will still be there, but the legacy she left is one of a powerful, independent and extremely beautiful woman. I hope I will be able to leave a legacy like that after myself one day.
All the best,
Thomas

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss Thomas, but it is so lovely that you have given her a legacy to remembered by!
I absolutely love what you wrote about making 2017 the year of control and your reflection on leaving behind a legacy. Your style is remarkable here, really loving the color and textures and as always your sophistication shines through.
Another perfect outfit! You’re definitely leaving behind your mark in the world of fashion and the internetz!
Such a great topic and what a lovely way to represent the brand (which I love by the way)!
I’m a mum, a strong woman, my own boss and many other things that I’m proud of myself and although I hadn’t really thought about leaving a legacy as such – I’m certainly making the most of what I can in this world today. I hope my children will be proud of that too 🙂
Great post!

As always, such a fantastic selection of photos and style. I think personally i’m a little too young and uncertain to know what my legacy might be! All i can hope for is that it’s something good 😉
