I like to think of myself as a loyal person, I stick to what I know and what works well for me. Take for example my unwavering devotion to Tom Ford’s Black Orchid, yes I’ve stumbled and had flings with Prada L’Homme, Salvatore Ferragamo’s Uomo and Comme Des Garcons Wonderwood, but I still always came back to Tom Ford because of the memories it conjures up of when I first moved to London and realised I had to start budgeting now that my money was worth only half what it was in Australia. But I still managed to treat myself to a bottle of Black Orchid and nothing had ever felt more luxurious before.
But then last week I was introduced to Loewe’s 001 Man fragrance. With notes of ‘bright, sparkling and fresh citrus, the Italian Bergamot and the Tangerine of Calabria, and a touch of Cardamom’. I was immediately whisked back to Italy with memories of bergamot ice tea cocktails in the sun. Now surely that is a better memory than when you were on a budget and job hunting? It is in my world.
