Causing A Contrast…

Clashes and contrasts, there is maybe no better two words to describe my visual aesthetic. Whether it’s sweatpants in public or decorative tiles used to embellish an exterior, I love it when things jar a little, that touch of juxtaposition really helps things to pop. And what better place than Lisbon to bring two of my current favourite contrasts together. Walk down any street and your eyes are drawn to house after house each with a smattering of decorative tiles and cracked bright coloured plaster – something you would never really see in London. Which is probably why Lisbon captured my heart, where else can you go and see highway barrier walls embellished with pretty patterned tiles which also just happen to make the perfect backdrop for another one of my contrasts – joggers. Once banished to gyms and couches thanks to fashionistas like Monsiuer Karl Largerfeld, the sweatpant has long had a bad reputation for slobbish behaviour and body shaming but in my books there is nothing more chic than when joggers are styled into a perfectly tailored outfit. So now that Spring has sprung and we have the opportunity to embrace both lighter layers and the outdoors, you have no excuse to not get up off the couch and parade them around town. Forget making a commotion, make a contrast.

I am one thousand percent here for the joggers/track suit trend. I love keeping it cozy but pairing it with tailored pieces just like you said! Gonna check out these Vince pants and perhaps steal this look from you haha

Although Karl is my father, I do agree, he has been wrong all these years when it comes to sweatpants. Just like you I like to play around with fashion and I have never cared for what’s conventional or correct, quite the opposite. Keep making those statements, Luke!
