Blame Game…

If video killed the radio star, then who killed print media? Most people will say the internet or social media but I’ve been wondering who’s really to blame. Looking at the latest cover of Rollacoaster Magazine it suddenly hit me, there is no difference between this minimal almost copy free magazine cover shot of Cameron Dallas sitting precariously in his underwear playing a video game and a social media post of the star… Did magazines create their own downfall by trying to be like Instagram or did Instagram users kill print by trying to be like the publications that they look up to? I’m not sure who is the culprit and who is the victim here, either way you look at the situation, it feels like we are all losing out. Just glance over most of the magazine covers this year alone you can see that fantasy has pretty much left fashion and all we really have left is click bait as publications try to create one asset that works across multiple channels online and in hand. Maybe consumers just consume too much or maybe we were force fed in the rise of the digital world too much by publications. I guess the blame game just continues…
