Take a Souvenir…

Let me start off with a question, what is your first memory of travel? I remember mine, a family holiday in Northern Queensland to see the whales migrating past the coast. While I don’t remember most of the activities I do specifically down to the finest detail remember getting a souvenir – a small pin badge in the shape of a whale breaching the water. Odd I know but at the time I thought it is was incredibly special even though I ended up losing it. So while times have changed and traditional souvenirs aren’t sitting on the top of our shelfs gathering dust anymore we still look for a keepsake while traveling whether it be a post cards, a selfies, or like me an item of clothing. Just a little something you can easily slip on and be transported back to a destination and time. Which is how I ended up with some Loewe espadrilles. The perfect colour and texture to match my hammock bag, these little beauties were the ultimate shoe of choice when exploring the streets of Carcassonne in France in the summery heat. And the best part (apart from how comfortable they are) is anytime I put them on now, all I can think about is where I’ve been before with them . And unlike past souvenirs, you won’t find these on some shelf gathering dust!

So true and so thoughtful! I need to buy more clothing when I travel! Also is this in Edinburgh? That castle looks familiar!

That is such a cute memory. I remember a somewhat similar souvenir from when I was about 4 or 5 and we were traveling somewhere in Italy and I got a silver dolphin necklace which I treasured for years and years. I wonder where that might be now. Just like you, I’m not much into souvenirs as such, but like a piece of clothing to make me remember the lovely (mostly) times I’ve had abroad and it’s something I always try to do when I’m on holidays. To get that one item that I’ll remember it by. Love the pictures too!

that’s such a useful souvenir 😉 and stylish too! I love your Loewe espadrilles! For me, I think my first memory was to Hong Kong when I was 6 or 7 and I remember getting this pink little handbag in an alley and I took it everywhere with me when I was back. I have no idea how it disappeared though 🙁 Nowadays, when I travel, I just get random decorative souvenirs for my future home!
