Sometime fashion can be the most frustrating thing in the world. It builds itself on an illusion that everything has to have substance and credibility… But then brands so frequently bow to pressure and jump on the celebrity bandwagon
Since 1955 Karl Lagerfeld has been telling the world what to wear. Having worked not only on his own named brand, Monsieur Lagerfeld has also designed for Balmain, Chloe, Fendi and most famously, Chanel. Describe as a ‘fashion icon of our time’, he is as well known for his controversial quips as he is for is decadent designs.
After the announcement last December of Kristen Stewart being cast as the new face of Chanel, many (including myself) couldn’t understand how this puzzle would come together. Maybe it was because the combination of Chanel and a collection inspired by cowboys was already confusing, that the addition of a moody Kristen seemed sacrilegious.
